Kilmarning United, Hungover and Defeated by Craigie Harper

£1,130.00
Only 1 available

Craigie's first ever Kilmarning United painting! A direct result of watching his severely hungover pals play a five-a-side match in which they were walloped 25-0, this work on paper celebrates a sense of unity. Every single member of the losing side was in terrible shape that day - a real team effort. The idea for a football club built on that shared principle soon followed.

Ever been to Kilmarning? No, nor has anyone else. That's because it's not a real place, but a wee rural town invented by Craigie Harper. The Scottish artist documents the everyday goings-on in Kilmarning and its perennially underachieving football team, Kilmarning United. Craigie’s paintings are partly autobiographical, partly fictitious; the line between the two is blurred but they've usually got a good story behind them.
