CRAIGIE HARPER | BABAJIDE BRIAN
30 NOVEMBER - 22 DECEMBER 2024
We’re celebrating the publication of issue 14 with solo exhibitions by Craigie Harper and Babajide Brian, two fascinating, unique, passionate artists featured in the latest mag. These are shows dealing with dedication and devotion, memory and belief, unmitigated joy and abject misery: you know, the good stuff.
CRAIGIE HARPER
Ever been to Kilmarning? No, nor has anyone else, because it's not a real place: it's a wee Scottish town of Craigie Harper's invention. The Scottish artist's paintings document the everyday reality of life in Kilmarning, and like any rural backwater, it's got a football team. His show at OOF is full of hungover players, matches in the pouring rain, drunken supporters and the constant disappointment of following your local club, the misery of freezing your bollocks off in a rickety old stand in a provincial town. For so many fans the game is about glory, but this is about something far more real than that.
BABAJIDE BRIAN
Alongside Craigie's show, we've also got a dizzying room filled with drawings of footballers, managers, kits and stadiums by Babajide Brian. These are heady portrayals of the simple, innocent joy of football fandom. Working with ActionSpace, an arts organisation, which supports learning disabled artists, Babajide Brian's nostalgia-drenched art is testament to the commitment, attention to detail and genuine love that comes with being a football fan.
