Golden Boy by Corbin Shaw

‘Golden Boy’ is Corbin Shaw's glittering tribute to Paul Gascoigne: a 7cm 'Corinthian' figurine, cast in bronze and available in a very limited edition of just eleven. Displayed in a glass dome, the work plays on the collectability of the big-headed mini footballers that caused such a huge sensation in the late 90s. Back then, just about every home had a small, sculpted Robbie Fowler on the mantelpiece or a grinning Ryan Giggs stuffed down the back of the sofa. Even today, rare boxed-up Beckhams and Baggios still command tidy sums on eBay. But with only a handful produced, this golden Gazza tops the lot.
